Can I buy Korean books from Kyobo internationally?

Updated 2026-07-21

Kyobo Book Centre (교보문고), Korea's largest bookstore, has no English storefront. It ships some print books abroad by FedEx/DHL, but the eligible country list is limited, and CDs, goods and stationery often can't be shipped internationally at all — and foreign cards are hit-or-miss at checkout. To buy the full Korean catalog, including the goods and stationery Kyobo won't send direct, you order through a proxy service like KOSURAN, which purchases on the domestic site and ships to you.

Why Kyobo is hard for overseas buyers

  • No English site. The storefront is Korean-only (kyobobook.co.kr).
  • Direct international shipping is limited. Some print books ship via FedEx/DHL, but only to a restricted set of countries — and CDs, goods, stationery and some magazines often can't be shipped abroad. Freebies and 1+1 second items aren't sent internationally.
  • Payment: foreign Visa/Mastercard/JCB are, at best, unreliable — errors at checkout are frequently reported. PayPal exists only for e-book cash (교보e캐시), not print books.
  • Account: signing up has historically required Korean phone verification.

What people buy from Kyobo

Korean-language print books — general, academic, and language-learning titles popular with Korean learners — plus webtoon collected volumes (단행본) and stationery and lifestyle goods from Kyobo's Hot Tracks arm, much of which Kyobo won't ship abroad directly.

The reliable route: proxy buying

  1. Find your item — search KOSURAN's catalog, or copy the Kyobo product page (or the exact title / ISBN).
  2. Order it — add a catalog item to your cart, or paste the Kyobo product URL into Request an item and we'll quote it. Give the exact edition so we buy the right one.
  3. We handle the Korean side — purchase on the domestic Kyobo with Korean payment, receive at our Seoul hub, check the item, and consolidate books with any goods or stationery in the same order.
  4. One parcel to your door — checked at our Seoul hub, then shipped by tracked express (UPS/DHL) that reaches most destinations in about 2 business days once it leaves Korea. US customs is prepaid at checkout — no surprise fee on arrival.

Why overseas buyers trust KOSURAN with a Kyobo order

  • Track every step. Your order timeline shows each item move through purchase, Seoul-hub check, consolidation, customs, and dispatch — no black box after you pay.
  • Wrong or damaged? We make it right. Store credit back immediately (no return shipping needed), or a refund to your original payment method — and if we sent the wrong item, we cover the return.
  • Real support within 24 hours (99% of the time), in English.
  • Fast, tracked delivery — about 2 business days from our Seoul hub to your door by express courier (UPS/DHL), not weeks by sea.

What it costs

The item price is the store's own price converted to USD — no markup. You add a small flat per-store service fee, the seller's Korea-side shipping at cost, and weight-based international shipping (a refundable deposit at checkout). Full breakdown on How it works.

Tips for Kyobo orders

  • Bundle books with goods and stationery. The Hot Tracks stationery and character goods Kyobo won't ship direct can go in the same parcel as your books.
  • First-press and signed editions and launch inserts are limited — request early, during the pre-order or release window.
  • Give the exact edition. Send the Kyobo product URL, or the title and ISBN, so we buy the right printing (hardcover vs paperback, special vs standard).

Common questions

Does Kyobo ship internationally?

It ships some print books abroad via FedEx/DHL to a limited list of countries, but CDs, goods and stationery usually can't be shipped internationally, and foreign cards are unreliable at checkout. A buying service covers the full catalog, including the goods Kyobo won't send direct.

Does Kyobo have an English website?

No — the storefront is Korean-only. A buying service handles the Korean-language checkout and payment for you, so you don't need to navigate it yourself.

Can I buy Korean stationery or Hot Tracks goods from Kyobo overseas?

Not through Kyobo's own international shipping, which typically excludes goods and stationery. A proxy buys them on the domestic site and ships them in the same parcel as your books.

Can I pay with a foreign card on Kyobo?

Sometimes, but foreign-card checkout is frequently reported to error out, and PayPal is only offered for e-book cash. A buying service pays with Korean methods on your behalf, which is why it's the reliable route.

How fast is delivery from Korea?

Once your consolidated parcel leaves our Seoul hub, express courier (UPS/DHL) reaches most destinations in about 2 business days. Every step is visible in your order timeline.
