Since ancient times, they have been created for various purposes including toys, ritual tools, and burial goods. In Korea, Silla tuou are representative examples. During the Goryeo period, related artifacts are rare, and in the Joseon period, the tradition continued through myeonggi—clay miniatures of people, animals, and household vessels made from white porcelain and placed in tombs. Hohodang's Our Family Tuou is a modern revival of this tuou culture with a long history. It has been reinterpreted as a simple toy from nature and as an objet that quietly finds its place in everyday spaces.
