Cheonggu Youngeon Embroidered Handkerchief (2 Types) An embroidered handkerchief born from inspiration drawn from the lyrics of Cheonggu Youngeon, a Joseon-era sijo poetry collection. Featuring two designs planned by Hohodang, this everyday item brings the charm of classical literature close to daily life. Cucumber "I scattered cucumber seeds on the sunny side beneath the eaves / Tending and nurturing them through rain and care / I wonder, is this the cucumber of Xiaoping?" Based on the scene from a sijo poem about planting and tending cucumbers while enjoying the flow of seasons, the design takes motifs from a painting by Geungjae Kim Deuk-shin. The generously sprawling cucumber vine symbolizes abundance, while the hedgehog carrying cucumbers represents good fortune and happiness. It is a design that expresses the witty yet warm sensibility of Joseon daily life through embroidery. Bookshelf Painting (Chaekgado) "Loading all the joy lingering in the countryside onto a donkey / Returning along a familiar mountain path, overwhelmed with pleasure / Child, gather your geomungo and books to spend the remaining days" Based on the leisurely daily life of a scholar who, after fully enjoying the refinement of nature, returns to end the day in the company of the geomungo and books. The motif of chaekgado, which contains a world of knowledge, taste, and contemplation, harmonizes with the lyrics of Cheonggu Youngeon, expressing the sense of dwelling through an embroidered handkerchief. This product was produced through the 2026 Hangeul Culture Product and Content Development Support Project, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Hangeul Museum, and organized by the Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation.
