K-pop albums come in so many versions — how do I buy the one I want from Korea?

Updated 2026-07-20

The short answer: most K-pop comebacks drop in several versions — photobook, digipack, jewel-case, POCA/platform and Weverse editions, and sometimes one cover per member — each with its own photobook and photocard set. Many sell only through Korean stores that don't ship abroad. To get a specific version, or every version, order those exact listings through a proxy: KOSURAN buys them in Korea and ships them to you consolidated.

The main album versions

  • Photobook — the standard, most comprehensive edition: a full photobook, the CD, and random photocards. The most popular with collectors.
  • Digipack — a compact cardboard sleeve; cheaper and lighter than the photobook.
  • Jewel case — the traditional plastic CD case, usually the cheapest physical edition.
  • POCA / platform / Nemo — a QR/app-play "platform album": very light, mostly a photocard and a QR card rather than a full package.
  • Weverse Album — HYBE's QR-based edition, always with a QR photocard; other contents vary by release.
  • Member / solo versions — one cover (and often member-specific inclusions) per member, so fans can collect their bias.

"Every version" vs "a specific version"

Fans buy multiple versions because the photobooks, concept photos and photocard sets differ between them. Two things decide what you get:

  • Version-specific vs random cards. Some releases put a fixed card set in each version; others include a card drawn randomly from a pool regardless of version. Most stores publish an inclusion list — check it before you order.
  • Store matters too. The same version can carry a different pre-order benefit (POB) card depending on which Korean store sells it, so "the full set" sometimes means ordering the same album from more than one store. Our POB & exclusives guide explains why.

Buying versions from overseas

  1. Decide the version(s) and note the store — POB cards differ by retailer.
  2. Order the listing — if it's in KOSURAN's K-pop catalog, order directly; otherwise paste the product URL and we'll quote it.
  3. Order early in the preorder window. Photocards and POBs are first-press / while-supplies-last; hot acts sell out before general sale.

How KOSURAN gets it to you

We buy each version from the Korean store, receive it and check the outer packaging at our Seoul hub, then consolidate everything into one tracked parcel — shipped worldwide with US customs prepaid (DDP), tracked step by step, and usually about two business days by express once it leaves Korea. CS answers within 24 hours, and if we can't complete a purchase you're refunded to your original payment method.

Honest note

Sealed albums stay sealed at our hub — nobody opens them to pick a card, including us, so random inclusions stay random. You can choose the version and store, not the specific card sealed inside. Album versions are also heavy for their price, so bundling several into one haul spreads the shipping cost instead of paying a full international fee per box — see our shipping guide.

Common questions

Can I order every version of a K-pop album from Korea?

Yes — order each version's listing (and, for store POBs, from each store) through a buying service like KOSURAN. We buy them in Korea, receive them at our Seoul hub, and ship the full set consolidated into one parcel.

Does the album version change which photocard I get?

Sometimes. Some releases put a version-specific card set in each edition; others include a card drawn randomly from a pool in every version. Check the store's inclusion list. Either way, sealed albums stay sealed at our hub, so random cards stay random.

What's the difference between a photobook and a POCA/platform album?

A photobook edition is a full physical package — photobook, CD and photocards. A POCA, platform or Nemo album is a light, app-play edition that's mostly a photocard and a QR card, with little physical content.

Can you get me a specific member's photocard from inside the album?

No — we keep albums sealed and can't pick the card inside. You can choose a member version or a store's POB, but any card that's randomly inserted stays random.
